In addition to the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences(TRAWOS Institute, headed by project coordinator Prof. Dr. Nadine Jukschat), the University of Siegen (headed by Dr. Franz Eckhard) and Neo.NET e.V. are involved in the project.
Using two contrasting ethnographic case studies in Lusatia, the research network is investigating the possibilities as well as the favorable and inhibiting conditions of various forms of innovation in structurally weak regions and testing control potentials on a model basis. The focus is on social innovations.
In a first step, under the guiding principle of "exploring the living environment" , the question is asked as to how, in view of historical experiences of transformation, the fractures and challenges of their region are presented to those affected locally and what role they ascribe to themselves in relation to innovation and change. Building on this, in a second step, social innovation formats will be developed and tested together with local practice partners under the guiding principle of "shaping change" , in which the ability to shape structural change is made tangible. In a final step, under the guiding principle of " Ensuring sustainability" , the aim is to ensure the continuity of the tested formats in the region and to develop generalizable procedural knowledge that can also be applied beyond the specific case studies in the promotion of sustainable innovations in structurally weak regions.
The joint project BePart is funded for a period of 3 years by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the funding line "REGION.innovativ. Researching regional factors for innovation and change - strengthening society's capacity for innovation".
