On November 9, 2024, the autumn conference of the Oberlausitzische Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften (OLGdW) will take place in Königsbrück, which is dedicated to the often overlooked Upper Lusatian country towns. This diverse urban landscape includes medieval town foundations, residential seats of the estates and founding towns of the 17th century. As part of the conference, Cornelia Müller will give the lecture "United in adversity(?) - support and aid after fires in small towns in Upper Lusatia" and will use the example of fires in Löbau and Rothenburg to shed light on the aid system of the 18th century. The event offers new perspectives on the historical significance of these rural towns and their role in the urban structure of Upper Lusatia.
