The conference: "The New Center? Right-wing ideologies and movements in Europe" took place from September 17 to 19, 2018 at the Deutsches-Hygiene Museum Dresden.
A conference of the German Hygiene Museum Dresden in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Mercator Forum Migration and Democracy at the TU Dresden, the Institute for Communication Science at the TU Dresden, the TRAWOS Institute of the University of Applied Sciences Görlitz/Zittau, the Kulturbüro Sachsen e.V. and the Catholic Academy of the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen.
The threat from the right has become much more diverse and divergent. It is no longer just violent neo-Nazis who are working on a renewal of the German Reich; national-conservative right-wing populists and ethnic nationalists, identitarians and Reich citizens are also agitating against the Federal Republic of Germany, each with their own concepts, goals and strategies.
The aim of the conference is to address this diversity and at the same time to look for the elements that unite them: What ideologies form the set pieces for the different models of explaining the world and what common goals link the various fields of action on the right-wing fringes of society? How do social transformation processes influence the approval and rejection of these explanatory models and movements? What interactions exist between societies and the right-wing spectrum through media reporting and media networking?
With a wide range of lectures and workshops, the conference is primarily aimed at those who are confronted with these challenges in their professional and private contexts. At the conference, they will receive background information on the individual players and structures and learn about strategies for their daily work.
The conference is listed in the sächs. Fortbildungs-Onlinekatalog für Pädagog*innen under the event no. EXT04294 as an advanced training course.
