1st Round Table 2007

New opportunities and problems in the transformation process of so-called structurally weak regions

When? 01.11.2007
Where? University campus Görlitz

State of research & Open discussion

The main issues are:
What opportunities and conditions do we find or need to be created for development in so-called zones or corridors of (intensified) transformation (transition zones) that help to reduce structural weaknesses and generate and harness endogenous potential for development that is largely independent of disproportionate transfers? What conditions enable economically fair and ecologically sustainable development? What resources can be tapped for this?

In addition, the focus will be on interests, priorities, necessary partners, planning and work steps as well as agreements on how a stable working form can be found in a timely manner. To this end, the round table could be established as a periodic working meeting, as well as a project development team, which would then develop results with institutional support from the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (and other partner institutions) and generate third-party funded projects.
