Refugees welcome in rural areas?

The reception of more than two million refugees from countries of the Global South has also led to a visible increase in diversity in rural regions. Based on comparative case study data, this lecture presents the specifics of rural regions and rural societies and shows how these specifics can affect the reception and participation of refugees. The following questions are of particular importance: How are refugees perceived by the rural population in comparison to other immigrant groups? What resources are mobilized to integrate refugees? How can regional and local differences in dealing with refugees be explained?
