Under this title a future congress for upper Lusatia and upper Franconia—co-organized by our Hypertransformation research group—took place on May 10–11, 2011 at the Theater Bautzen.
MitKurt Biedenkopf and Gerald Hüther—two figures known for their intellectual courage—set new standards with their keynote speeches on the topics „Die neue Sicht der Dinge“ and „Was braucht der Mensch und menschlich aktiv zu sein?“.
The central themes of the conference were the opportunities and challenges posed by demographic change for rural regions. How can medium-sized and smaller cities and municipalities prepare themselves for current and future economic, social and cultural challenges and take advantage of the opportunities they present? How can they better leverage their diverse resources to foster creative economic and social achievements? What structural and entrepreneurial approaches are available to achieve this?
