  •  Cornelia Müller is pursuing her doctorate in a cooperative program as part of a doctoral project based at the University of Erfurt with the working title: „Feuer und Brandbekämpfung im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert am Beispiel der Oberlausitzer Städte Bautzen, Görlitz und Löbau“.
  • Political scientist Jan Schaller is pursuing his doctorate at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies at the University of Osnabrück on the topic “Balance of power within the European migration regime: hotspots as places of (informal) negotiation?”.
  • Social scientist Sînziana Schönfelder is pursuing her doctorate at the Faculty of Philosophy at Chemnitz University of Technology on the topic „…verstehen, dass die Geschichte sich in Gottes Hand befindet“– On the role of religion in the transformation process in Romania from the 1989 revolution to EU accession in 2007.
  • Johannes Böhnlein, M.A. (in political science); topic: „Pfadabhängigkeit informeller Institutionen und Demokratiequalität in Mittelosteuropa“ (since 2020, supervised jointly with Prof. Joachim Lauth, University of Würzburg)
  • Susanne Lerche, M.A. (in sociology); topic: „Frauen als Initiatorinnen bürgerschaftlichen Engagements in der Lausitz“ (since 2023, supervised jointly with Prof. Alexandra Retkowski, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg)
