The project explores and develops both theoretical and practical approaches to social and cultural innovations within the context of structural transformation in Lusatia.
The structural change in Lusatia, which aims at sustainable regional development, has so far primarily focused on technological and ecological innovation. However, without incorporating social and cultural innovations, imbalances emerge, manifesting, among other things, as “demographic problems” (such as the outmigration of young, educated people and shortages of skilled labour).
The project therefore investigates regional approaches to new models of civic organisation and participation, as they are being developed, for example, within the framework of the “Bürgerregion Lausitz”. In addition, the project also examines practical approaches to a metamodern culture in Lusatia and their effects in entrepreneurial and demographic terms.
Project partners, in addition to the TRAWOS Institute at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) (Dr Maik Hosang, project leader), include the Bündnis Zukunft Oberlausitz, the Bürgerregion Lausitz, and neoNET e.V.
The project is funded by the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK).
This measure is co-financed with public tax revenues based on the budget adopted by the members of the Saxon State Parliament.
